Saturday we completed the final leg of our travels to Lough Hyne. Starting in Cork, we made our way out of the city, winding through quaint villages. We stopped at Glandore Harbour, which glittered under the sun's warm rays, and Drombeg Circle, which enchanted us with its rich history of ceremony and ritual.
We also paused in Skibbereen to eat monk fish and chips, and to scour bookshops for the perfect bird guide.
Finally, we arrived at the lough to find ourselves completely captivated by the lough's natural beauty and the Gatehouse's charm.
The Gatehouse overlooks the lough from the north shore, and is built and furnished in traditional style. The favorite feature, a domed dining area walled with windows, is the perfect spot to eat, study, and spy on ogling kayak tours.
